For the Second Year in a Row “Panda Blood Donation Campaign”

In Collaboration with the Health Ministry and Sensodyne Company, Panda has started “Panda Blood Donation Campaign”.

Through a launching party at Azizia Panda, Riyadh; in the presence of the management and head of the laboratories blood banks and Riyadh’s health Dr. Khaled Bin Abdullah al Metlab and the Marketing and Public Relations Director of the Azizia Panda United Company, Engineer Rami Abdul Wahab Rajab. This campaign is the second year in a row, when the first campaign, in the year 2008, has resulted in attracting more than 1000 donors.
Moreover, Engineer Rami Rajab has announced that Panda blood donation campaign originated from the Panda belief on its social responsibilities which is reflected in the health and awareness programs. The blood donation campaign is nothing but a social health awareness campaign destined to rise the percentage of public consciousness in the importance of blood donation for both the society and the individual himself.

In addition, the campaign will be executed in some of Panda’s and HyperPanda’s branches which spread out in the cities of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh- Jeddah- Madinah- Makkah- Yanbu- Hasa- Buraida- Dammam- Raka- Bisha- Najran and Hail ). The campaign will last for 5 days, through which internal blood donation units will be provided. These units are small clinics with a medical team. This event will take place in association with the health affairs and the management of the laboratories and blood banks of the cities involved. Thus Panda’s blood donation campaign reveals the social unity that the Saudi society is distinguished by, as the donation of one person leads to saving 3 others. Therefore Panda’s blood donation campaign has awareness, healthiness and social objectives.

It is worth to mention that the timing of the blood donation was specially chosen to take place at the same time of the Haj season which involves the need of different preparations and equipments. The blood donation is considered to be an important national and religious responsibility, as the Almighty Allah said ” ومن أحياها فكأنما أحيا الناس جميعاً “. Furthermore, the blood donation has many benefits; it increases the activity of the blood cell and consequently it will produce more blood and enhance the activity of the blood cycle. Also, it decreases the percentage of iron in the blood which reduces the risks of having heart related diseases or an obstruction of the heart’s veins. Besides, this blood donation will give us sufficient supplies of pure and secure blood which will allow us to stop importing blood. However, it is important to know that the quantity of blood taken from one adult is so small (450ml-500ml) and that doesn’t cause any harm for the health, under one condition, that a person donates only up to  5 times a year.
